Active School Programme 2016-2017

This school year there was lots to do! We made sure all the teachers had a copy of our PE plan, cleaned up our PE press and organised resources. We worked during our lunch times helping the infants play games. This is something we all enjoyed.

In February we held our ten at ten. This was an initiative by operation transformation. All the classes were dancing at ten o’ clock on the 10th of February. We also went swimming for ten weeks at the beginning of the year! Each Wednesday we walked to Huntington Castle. And we took part in a 6km walk carrying 6kg. This showed us how hard children in other counties work- carrying water back to their homes.

Throughout the year we received active homework and took part in movement breaks. We were fortunate enough to receive a lot of training and classes during the year- basketball, yoga and GAA. There was after school training in both football and basketball. There was also training in camogie/ hurling, football and soccer! We participated in leagues within this- working as part of a team and building up our skills. Kildavin and Clonegal Schools joined up for a very successful football camp in the Ben Mulhall pitch in May. It was great fun learning new skills from football coaches as well as meeting up with our GAA friends.

Our Active School Week took place at the end of June 2017.
