Christmas is a very busy time in our school. Classrooms are decorated and the school crib is erected in the front hall. The sound of carol singing can be heard from every classroom. Pupils are busy making their "Bóthar Calendars" which help to raise funds to purchase goats for Bóthar. Wearing santa hats, we all enjoy our Annual Christmas Walk to Huntington Castle. Santa and the Bóthar goats pay us a visit on the day of the holidays and it is a really festive occasion. Each year we also have a very special Christmas celebration – either a concert in St. Brigid’s Hall or a Carol Service in St. Brigid’s Church. We alternate these two events and both are always very well supported by parents and the local community. The children look forward to the excitement they bring.

21 and 22 December 2017: Christmas Celebrations
On 21 December we went on our annual Christmas walk to Huntington Castle, wearing our Santa hats. We had great fun on the walk and when we arrived at the Castle we we able to take a magical tour of the Castle where we really enjoyed looking at the huge Christmas Tree and its amazing decorations. We are very grateful to Claire and Alex for always making us so welcome at Huntington Castle.

On the last day before the Christmas holidays Santa came to visit us in the school. There was huge excitement as we all sang Christmas songs, waiting for his arrival. Every pupil got to meet Santa and received a selection box from him. We are very grateful to the Parents Council members who decorated his grotto and helped him during his visit.

5 to 7 December 2017: Christmas Concert
For weeks, pupils and their teachers were very busy practicing for the Christmas Concert. Every pupil in the school participated and they and their teachers can be very proud of their hard work.

The concert was a huge success! Due to the size of St. Brigid’s Hall and the number of pupils in the school, there were 3 performances – a matinee and 2 evening performances. A packed hall for each performance! The children were true professionals on stage and their enjoyment when performing was very obvious. Each play was very entertaining. And well done to the individual performers; it takes a lot of courage to get up on stage by yourself.

Thank you to all who donated to Bóthar and to the Parents Council members who guarded the bucket in the Church porch for us!! The whole experience was a heart-warming reminder to all of us of the true spirit of Christmas.
