Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international Irish language festival and a great celebration of our Irish language and culture. It takes place in many other countries as well as here at home. Each year several events are organised to enjoy celebrating the Irish language and the Irish culture.

This school year Seachtain na Gaeilge ran from 1 to 17 March. Pupils made a great effort to speak in Irish. Hopefully they are continuing to do so. It would really help them if you could do the same at home. I’m sure most of you can remember the “cúpla focail” and your children will have great fun correcting you! Speaking a language is the only way to develop it – and all your children will be doing “Oral Irish” exams in Secondary so why not get started now.

16 March 2017: Lá Glas
On “Lá Glas” children were invited to wear green and Irish colours on the day. It was really well supported. And we enjoyed our annual celebration of Irish music, song and dance in the hall.
