In our school we consider participation in sporting activities to be very important. Pupils are encouraged to be active at all break times. They enjoy playing ball games, skipping and playground games. We are very fortunate to have a basketball court, two football pitches, a soft play area with a slide, monkey bars, a fireman pole, a balance bridge and a climbing rope in addition to the front area of our school. We are also very fortunate to have the use of St. Brigid’s hall for PE activities.

Football, camogie/hurling, basketball and soccer training is provided by the teachers during lunch break. In addition to this training, Ita O’ Donoghue provides basketball training and the local GAA coaches provide training in football and hurling during the school year. Children participate in all the Cumann na mBunscoil football, hurling and camogie leagues and in the basketball and soccer league.

Pupils from 1st to 6th class and all pupils in the ASD classes also avail of 10 weeks swimming instruction each year. Each year all pupils enjoy our Active Schools Week including our sports day. At the end of the year the school tours take place. They are very active events with the senior pupils participating in water based activities and outdoor pursuits.

October 2017: Cumann na mBunscoil
Our school teams competed in the Cumann na mBunscoil Football Leagues. We had a Boy's team and a Girl's team. Well done to both teams who progressed to the Semi Final stage. They were delighted and had great fun and enjoyment along the way. Thanks to the teachers who worked with them and accompanied them to the matches. Thank you to the parents who provided transport – without you the children could not participate in the matches.
