May 2018
Here are some pictures of our activities in May. Our favourite was the Teddy Bear’s Picnic. We brought our teddies into school and told everybody about them. We wrote about our teddies and then brought them outside for a picnic. When we were finished our picnic we played games. We hid teddies and tried to find them! We were also busy practicing our Irish - look at our video to see two girls having a little conversation as gaeilge! We work very hard in class and have lots of fun learning! It was so sunny this month. Ms. O’ Brien brought us outside for Maths and English!

April 2018
They say April showers bring May flowers. We drew pictures of umbrellas and filled them in with crepe paper. We also created flowers using pastels! Cherry blossoms are beginning to blossom! We created cherry blossom trees using popcorn of all things! We are playing games in PE you will see pictures of us with bean bags and racquets! We have also started Go Noodle and we love this as a movement break! We listened to two legends Cu Chulainn and The Salmon of knowledge – The children loved acting out various parts of the stories! This is a very important month in our classroom as we complete the Stay Safe Programme. Each week this month and next the children will receive stay safe homework. Look at our pictures - we learned about floating and sinking and tried to make a boat from playdoh. Noah was successful in creating a boat to hold our lego character! We had buddy reading with sixth class and went to the blue room in the junior ASD class for golden time! We really loved this!

March 2018
We had a few days off in March because of the snow. We made lots of memories at home! Ms. Murphy came and taught our class as part of her placement. She showed us how to dance to shoe the Donkey. We danced to this in assembly. Here are pictures of us at Lá Glás. We went on an Easter Egg hunt. What an adventure! We read Rabbits Don’t Lay Eggs.

February 2018
A month full of fun! This month like all the rest was full of laughter, fun and lots of learning! The children in Junior Infants learned how to look after babies! We had two babies in our classroom - John and Leah. We learned how to hold a baby, bath a baby, check the temperature of the water and also learned how to tell the difference between a baby boy and a baby girl! The boys and girls were so gentle when bathing and holding the babies! This month we made cards for our parents for Valentines - it's important to tell our parents how much we love them! We made pancakes for Pancake Tuesday! They were delicious! We also learned that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of lent. We are focusing on sharing for lent. Thank you to the 6th class girls for setting up these obstacle courses for us on break. They are so kind and helpful with the infants and we are very lucky to have them as playground leaders!

January 2018
We started this month as we meant to go on - full of fun, laughter and lots of work! We were very excited coming back to school , sharing stories of what Santa had brought! We created lovely pictures of fireworks for the New Year using chalk pastels. This now hangs proudly in our classroom. We are working hard with our sounds and blending! You can see us getting very active in our pictures as we do our 10@10 as part of our operation transformation. We went on a spring walk to find snowdrops and we saw daffodils beginning to appear. In January and February we cover the gymnastics strand in PE. We are enjoying balancing, crab crawls, bear crawls, sliding across benches, pencil rolls and even tumbles. Lots of us joined Kildavin / Clonegal football, camogie and hurling and got these lovely hats! Our grandparents came to visit us in school, we sang lovely songs and listened to their stories. In the end we performed one of our dances and got our grandparents to dance with us!

December 2017
Look at all of our pictures from December! We had such a fun filled a busy December. Wee finished our Christmas Concert and we were very tired. We were all so glad to have a day off school. When we came back we completed lots of Christmas Art and even sent home a little package of decorations to our parents. We loved our Aistear- Santas workshop- what fun we had. We walked to Huntington Castle, singing Christmas songs along the way! Mary had a Baby is one of our favourite songs! We learned lots about the story of the first Christmas – below is a video narrating the story! After our two weeks of holidays we will be ready to work hard in January.

November 2017
November has flown by and it's hard to believe we are into Winter. This month Anita from Music Generation Carlow brought wooden instruments with her and we played them. We learned about houses and homes. We looked on Google Maps on images of buildings in Clonegal. We learned various names for houses like bungalow, two story, detached. We learned about Winter and how hard it is on birds. We read about Apollo the Swallow and how he heads off to Africa for the winter. We fed the birds in our wildlife garden! We are just about ready to put on Our Christmas Show - Ralph the Reindeer. We have been so busy practicing. We cannot wait for you to see it!

September 2017
Our new junior infants have started school and have settled in very well. 18 junior infants walked into our classroom on the first day of school. It is a very busy classroom and the children are learning lots. We are getting to know our school grounds, the people who work in our school and what exactly school involves.  The day seemed quiet long at the start but we soon got used to it! Here are some pictures of the work we have been doing! As you can see we do lots of hands on work and are very active in our learning!
