Easter Excitement! We ony have two weeks of schools this month! We had three visitors to our classroom, three rabbits who came to check on our behaviour. They were very impressed and even left us eggs after our hunt! Can you see the fun we had on our hunt! We ran around looking for coloured eggs, we sorted them and counted them when we had finished! Look at our lovely art we created lovely Easter Bunnies! There are also a few videos to show how excited we were to get our Easter Holidays!

March 2019
Our pictures from this month are a sea of green! We created lots of art pieces for St. Patrick’s Day. We also dressed up as part of our Lá Glás celebrations. We loved performing our Irish poems and songs for the rest of the school! We also had Pancake Tuesday – one of our favourite days of the school year! We went to the staff room and made pancakes! We also tossed playdough pancakes and tried to touch the roof with them! This month we finished Yoga – we loved every minute of it! Thank you Catherine for teaching us Yoga each Monday. Seachtain na Gaeilge was just before St. Patrick’s day- Have a look at the video of our two puppets ag caint! Nach bhfuil gaeilge iontach ag Jack agus Kieran! Maith Sibh! This month we looked at occupations – we talked about some of the jobs our parents have as well as the jobs we would like to have in the future!

February 2019
Our classroom is a hive of activity. From yoga to gymnastics, baking to singing we have been a very busy class. We made chocolate chip cookies as well as microwave popcorn. We are such a hard working class that we have lots of time for fun activities. We absolutely loved the gymnastics strand in PE. Every child completed the tumble, a pencil roll, moved across benches in various ways. Every Monday Catherine comes to teach us some yoga; we work on various poses as well as our breathing! We completed some spring art- our windows are now full of sheep. We found out that in spring baby calves and lambs are born. We are learning the names of flowers that grow in spring!

January 2019
In January we cover the gymnastics strand. Look at how we balance! We also practice our tumbles, pencil rolls and balances. Each year gymnastics proves to be one of the favourite strands. In Music we learned a song called Gotta Build a House. We added percussion instruments to this. We learned the names of lots of instruments and really enjoyed playing them. Have a listen to our video! This month we are covering the Stay Safe Programme- Topic 1 and 2. We are learning the names of some feelings and named times we would feel safe and unsafe! In Aistear we used the doll’s house to show times we felt safe and unsafe at home!

December 2018
The month of December was an extremely busy month as these pictures show. Our school Carol Service was a lovely event. The children did a great job singing ‘Mary Had a Baby’ as well as other songs. Sixth class came down to read to the Junior and Senior Infants- this is something both classes really enjoy. We got to see Santa on the last day of school.

This month we learned all about winter! It’s is a very cold month. We made winter hats in art aswell as penguins. We built the three little pigs houses and went to Dramaland to meet the big bad wolf. We have been busy practicing songs for the carol service! Our junior and Senior infants have enjoyed dancing in PE this strand! Our class had over 30 shoeboxes for the Christmas Shoebox appeal , there was great excitement as we sent them off! We made two class shoeboxes and filled them up! We went over the the hall where the Tidy Towns Commitee showed us their Trophies and prizes for this year , they also gave us a treat. This month we went to the staff room and made hot chocolate as a treat!

October 2018
This month for History we focused on our past. Children brought in baby photos as well as artefacts from when they were young! There were shoes, bibs, babygros and some very precious teddies. Lots of children found it very hard to believe that they were ever this small. We played lots of playground games in PE and we are extremely lucky to have Seamus Comerford from GAA Carlow schools development programme come to school and take us for a GAA lesson. This is without a doubt a big highlight to our week! We went to the senior ASD class where one of the older boys read us a story. We listened so well and answered lots of his questions! This month we had Maths Week. Our class did lots of extra maths stations, wrote an acrostic poem and really challenged ourselves. One of our challenges was to drop an egg from a height without breaking it using just newspapers! We loved this experiment! As is tradition we took off on our Witch Walk on the last day of school. We walked the whole way to Huntington Castle. We went inside and it was very dark and scary! This is always one of our favourite days in the school year. We are so lucky to have Huntington Castle on our door step!

September 2018
On the 30th of August 2018, 8 new Junior Infants made their way up the path of Clonegal NS ready for new beginnings. There were new school bags, new lunch boxes, new faces and new friends. The Senior Infants could not wait to meet their new friends whom they would share a classroom with. There are now 25 pupils in our classroom. We have had a very busy September: getting a tour of our new school, meeting our new principal, picking apples, painting, playing laughing and learning. We have really settled in well and have learned so much already. The Senior Infants are a great example to the Junior Infants, showing them how to be kind and how to play nicely.
