November 2018
This month has started our rehearsals for the Christmas Carol service. We are very busy singing and playing the recorders. As a class we did lots of work on how to deal with feelings and emotions. We got up and acted out different emotions and the rest of the class guessed them. This was lots of fun. In History we were looking at homes and how they have changed through the years. We went on a walk in the village and observed different buildings. In Maths we covered an exciting topic Data. Every morning we voted on the board about something we liked best. In Science we made our own compost bins. This was very exciting to watch the food break down. We completed work on clay in Art. There were excellent animals and Christmas decorations made. This month we worked super hard on learning the counties of Ireland. We finished our term of swimming. This was great fun.

October 2018
October was an exciting month in school. We started practicing the songs for Peace Proms. We really enjoy singing and dancing to the song ‘The Greatest Show’. We learned lots about Spain. We researched information on Spain on the laptops and created fact files. In maths we played fun games in pairs. We love to learn in a fun way. In Art we made Norman Castles from recyclable materials. We worked in groups for this and put in a huge effort. 6th class joined us one day and listened to our reading. They helped us with new words. Our favourite celebration this month was Halloween. We made Frankenstein’s inspired by Picasso. We went on a walk to Huntington castle. We went inside the castle and saw all the Halloween decorations. We loved dressing up and playing Halloween games. We are working very hard to earn pen licences.

September 2018
Our first month in third class is now completed. It was an exciting month for us. We were delighted to be back to school to see our friends. We loved sorting out our new books for the year ahead. We are very excited about getting pen licences this year. We are very lucky to have started swimming this month. In Art we drew a portrait of our friends. We learned that it took time to get the details of each person’s face correctly. In History we started to look at ‘The Normans’. We were very interested in this topic and followed onto it in drama also. We acted out what life would be like living in a Norman castle and under attack. In Science we were learning about the human body. We looked at our organs in detail. We each completed a project based on one of our organs. We celebrated ‘World Heart Day’ and checked our pulse before and after exercising. We are really lucky to have a GAA coach come on Tuesdays and teach us exciting new skills. We look forward to this every week.
