April 2019
We only had two weeks school in the month of April as we were on our Easter holidays. In drama we acted in role and created scenes from Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We loved doing this and we discussed each scene afterwards. For art we responded to a poem ‘The Magic Piper’ by painting the image created in our heads from studying the poem. In science we were recapping on magnets. We discussed how magnets worked. We made a maze and guided a ball around the maze using a magnet underneath. We started to look at electricity. This was very interesting and we loved making simple circuits. Our favourite time in school was the Easter egg hunt. We got lots of chocolate.

September 2018
Our first month in third class is now completed. It was an exciting month for us. We were delighted to be back to school to see our friends. We loved sorting out our new books for the year ahead. We are very excited about getting pen licences this year. We are very lucky to have started swimming this month. In Art we drew a portrait of our friends. We learned that it took time to get the details of each person’s face correctly. In History we started to look at ‘The Normans’. We were very interested in this topic and followed onto it in drama also. We acted out what life would be like living in a Norman castle and under attack. In Science we were learning about the human body. We looked at our organs in detail. We each completed a project based on one of our organs. We celebrated ‘World Heart Day’ and checked our pulse before and after exercising. We are really lucky to have a GAA coach come on Tuesdays and teach us exciting new skills. We look forward to this every week.
